Eric J. Thomas

COAL TOWNSHIP — Eric J. Thomas, 33, of 1213 W. Walnut St., passed away at 5:37 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, while in the company of his loving family at his parents' residence, with whom he resided.

Eric was in ill health for the past 4 1/2 years.

Born in Shamokin Hospital, Coal Township, Feb. 1, 1979, he was a son of Annie (O'Brien) and Gary Thomas.

He was employed at Fleetwood Motor Homes, Paxinos.

Eric attended Shamokin Area High School.

He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township, and a member of Independence Fire Company and Sons of Italy, both in Shamokin, Fairview Gun Club, Coal Township, and the American Pool Association (APA).

Eric was an avid fan of the University of Notre Dame football team, Syracuse University basketball team and the Philadelphia Phillies. He enjoyed camping and playing pool.

In addition to his parents, Gary and Annie Thomas, Eric is also survived by a sister, Nicole, wife of Rick Bozza, of Shamokin; two brothers, his twin, Gary Thomas and companion, Aimee Smart, of Shamokin, and Ryan Thomas, of Coal Township; maternal grandparents, Dot and Ed O'Brien, of Shamokin; paternal grandfather, Don Thomas, of Tharptown; two nephews, Billy Breinich, of Trevorton, and Collin Bozza, of Shamokin; two nieces, Gabrielle Thomas and Desserae Allen, both of Shamokin; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Marlene Thomas; a nephew, Blake Bozza, and a niece, Hayley Bozza.

THOMAS — Eric J. Thomas, 33, of 1213 W. Walnut St., Coal Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Hope Church, First and Chestnut streets, Coal Township, with a parish friar officiating. Those attending Mass are asked to meet at the church at 9:45 a.m. Monday. Friends are invited to call at the visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with Christian Wake service at 6 p.m., at James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township. Interment will follow Mass at Fairview Cemetery, 3000 W. State St., Coal Township. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 1948 E.
