It is with great sadness that we learned of John´s passing. John, you will be missed. You were, above all, a kind man, guided daily by the tenets of your faith. You were a proud "Rusyn," and I will never forget your license plate: Ja Rusyn (I am a Rusyn). I will remember the many times we talked about your heritage, and I will always have in my mind the beautiful sound of your voice when you spoke the Carpatho-Rusyn language, a skill that only a very small handful of descendants still possess in the coal region. You sang many songs to me in the language you were so proud of, and served as a cantor to countless religious services over many many years. My only regret is that I didn´t know you for more years than I did. My wife Lyuda and I will never forget you. God rest your beautiful and kind soul.

We offer our deepest sympathy to John's family. For many years, he was a familiar figure and faithful volunteer at our Annual Pilgrimage in honor of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. We have missed his presence among us, but we are confident that he now enjoys new life in the heavenly kingdom. May his memory be eternal!
