MOUNT CARMEL — Mary Rita (Swetra) Tamecki, 103, of 315 S. Hickory St., passed away at her home.
She was born Aug. 5, 1912, in Shenandoah, to the late Peter and Mary (Samson) Swetra.
Mary attended Kulpmont schools.
She was married to Edward J. Tamecki, who preceded her in death March 5, 1958.
She was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, and a former member of Our Mother of Consolation Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Dolores Popkowski and her husband, Matthew, of Wilburton, and Jean Kashmere, of Mount Carmel; five grandchildren, Edward Kashmere, of Limerick, David Kashmere, of Herndon, Virginia, Jeanne Long, of Mount Carmel, Kim Mary Peffer, of Harrisburg, and Michele Kashmere, of Allentown; eight great-grandchildren, Laura, Brittney, Victoria, James, Trisden, Nathaniel, Brianna and Zachary; two great-great-grandchildren, Gavin and Liam.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Tamecki; four brothers, Anthony, John, Albert and Stanley Swetra; and a sister, Josephine Misiewicz.
TAMECKI — Mary Rita (Swetra) Tamecki, 103, of 315 S. Hickory St., Mount Carmel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Francis Karwacki as celebrant. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 47 S. Market St., Mount Carmel. Burial will be in Our Mother of Consolation Cemetery, Mount Carmel. My deepest sympathies to all family members. My aunt Mamie was a sweet , kind soul for her entire life. Loved her so much. And Rob was always kind to me. It's a tremendous loss. I am so sorry. May God shower his love and blessings on the family. Special prayers for Lory and Jeannie.
