Paul Birster Obituary

LOCUST GAP — Paul Aloysius Birster, 79, of 134 Railroad St., passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at the Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.

He was born in Locust Gap, June 19, 1935, a son of the late John and Florence Alberta (Ahrensfield) Birster.

Paul was a graduate of Ashland High School.

On March 2, 1962, in St. Joseph Church, Ashland, he married the former Barbara Ann Doyle, who survives.

He was a member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Mount Carmel, and the Locust Gap Fire Company.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Barbara, are two sons, Paul A. Birster Jr. and his wife, Angela, of Jupiter, Fla., and Richard Birster and his wife, Cindy, of Mount Carmel; three daughters, Carol Ann Colross, of Atlas, Mary Louise Bosco and her husband, George, of Marion Heights, and Barbara Green, of Locust Gap; seven grandchildren, Steffanie Birster, Christina Schroeder, Paul Birster III, Eric Birster, Jared Colross, and Miranda and Ryan Green; three great-grandchildren, Bella, Athena and Trystan Schroeder; two sisters, Alberta Dancho, of Locust Gap, and Kathryn McGinley, of Mount Carmel; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Albert Colross; six brothers, John, Gerald, Herman, Nicholas, Cletus and William Birster; and two sisters, Gertrude Wisnoski and Anne Marie Minnig.

BIRSTER — Paul Aloysius Birster, 79, of 134 Railroad St., Locust Gap. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 47 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Francis Karwacki as celebrant. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. Viewing will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the Joseph J. Stutz Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, supervisor. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Locust Gap Fire Company, 266 Marshall St., Locust Gap 17840.
