KULPMONT — Paul A. "Paulo" Niglio, 92, died Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.
He was born July 30, 1924, a son of the late Frank and Marianna (Miriello) Niglio. He was a lifelong resident of Kulpmont.
He was educated in St. Mary's Grade School and Kulpmont High School.
Paul was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the Church of the Holy Angels Parish, formerly St. Mary's in Kulpmont.
He belonged to the Kulpmont American Legion, VFW, West End Fire Company and the Knights of St. George.
He was a retired coal miner who enjoyed his black lung check. He was a long-time bartender at the Beachcomber Lounge in Mount Carmel and the American Legion in Kulpmont.
He was an avid card player all his life and enjoyed playing pinochle at the Senior Citizen's Action Center and going to the casino.
Surviving are his wife, Helene V. (Sylko) Niglio; four sons, Frank, of Mount Carmel, Paul Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, of Kulpmont, Stanley, of Kulpmont, and Robert Joseph and his wife, Trish, of Elysburg; five grandchildren, Tara Michaels and her husband, David, Stephen Niglio, Nina Niglio, Rachel Niglio and Cassandra Niglio; four great-grandchildren, Chloe, Cameron, Quintin and Cortland Michaels; many nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Antoinette Niglio, of Mount Carmel, and Marlene Niglio, of Harrisburg.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Anthony; and a sister, Catherine (Niglio) Ososkie and her husband, Norbert.
NIGLIO — Paul A. "Paulo" Niglio, 92, of Kulpmont. Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to attend a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont, with the Rev. Andrew Stahmer as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kulpmont. Visitation will be held in the Church of the Holy Angels from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass Friday. C.J.
