COAL TOWNSHIP - Penny G. Kaskie, 70, of 1041 W. Walnut St., passed away Monday, June 19, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Philadelphia, May 14, 1953, a daughter of Alen and Patricia (Christ) Straub.
She attended Shamokin Area schools.
On June 4, 1981, in Shamokin, she married James A. Kaskie, who survives.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, in Tharptown, where she sang in the choir.
If one word could describe Penny, it is kindness, as she was selfless, compassionate and merciful.
Penny was extremely creative, loved to sew and enjoyed making everyone homemade gifts.
She enjoyed family vacations to North Carolina and going fishing. Penny loved spending time with her family, her dogs and especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
In addition to her husband, Penny is survived by four daughters, Kathy Giedosh, of Shamokin, Julie Johnson and her spouse, Amanda, of Shamokin, Patty Wojciechowski and her husband, Jeff, of Sunbury, and Joleen Smith, of Coal Township; four grandsons, Richard Giedosh, Shawn Spock, Tanner Christian and Jeffrey Wojciechowski and his wife, Cheyenne; seven granddaughters, Jessica Straub, Sarah Spock, Jamie Moore and her husband, Hoss, Kayley Wojciechowski and her fiancé, Mark Williams, Kalista Wojciechowski, Kiralyn Wojciechowski and Lilly Wojciechowski; three great-grandsons, Rhys Wojciechowski, Trebor Moore and Colton Moore; three great-granddaughters, Harper Wojciechowski, Demi Moore, Oaklyn Moore and one on the way, Dallas Moore; her father, Alen Straub; four brothers, David Straub, of Shamokin, Alen Straub and his wife, Mary, of Shamokin, Michael Straub, of Trevorton, and Daniel Straub and his wife, Kim, of Shamokin; and a brother-in-law, Gary Kaskie and his wife, Kris, of Harrisburg.
Penny was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia (Christ) Straub; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Eleanor (Washleski) Kaskie; a sister, Sandra Hornberger and her husband, Bryan; and a sister-in-law, Pamela Straub.
