BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Robert "Bob" Ney Young, 78, of Brooklyn, New York, went to be with the Lord Monday, Jan. 31, 2022.
Bob was born in Shamokin, Oct. 31, 1943, to Herbert G. and Ethel (McCleish) Young. He was baptized at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, in Mount Carmel.
Bob grandparents resided in Mount Carmel. His paternal ancestors, Jung, Ney, Hock and Shell settled in and around Pottsville, Mount Carmel and Ashland. Bob grew up in Brooklyn, but completed one of his years of high school in Mount Carmel while living with his maternal grandparents.
As an adult, he earned a prestigious New York master plumber license. Bob had his own plumbing company and excelled at working on residential and commercial properties. He also taught his son the trade and they worked together as a team for many years.
Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and especially enjoyed elaborate holiday meals with the family that were prepared by his daughter. His children lovingly cared for him during the last months of his life.
Survivors include his son, Angelo Young; his daughter, Donna Varsik (Troy); his sister, Barbara Anne Rosenstrauch; his grandsons, Christian and Robbie Varsik; and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 25 years, Brenda (Squillaro) Young; his brother, Richard H. Young; his grandson, Brendan Varsik; and his daughter-in-law, Audrey (Maduako) Young.
Services were held in New York where he was buried Friday, Feb. 4, 2022.
