ANDREWS, N.C. — Wesley Lawrence Griffiths, 80, entered into his eternal rest with his precious Lord Jesus on Saturday, July 1, 2017, in Murphy.
A native of Shamokin who was born March 9, 1937, he lived in Andrews since 2000.
He was an employee of Weyerhaeuser Paper and a retired truck driver.
Wes had a deep passion for running, physical fitness and his Lord.
He was graciously brought to faith in Christ Jesus at the age of 35, and for the rest of his life, he would exemplify the words of John Newton (author of Amazing Grace), "I remember two things…that I am a great sinner, and that Christ is a great Saviour."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Florence Doretta Snyder Griffiths; seven brothers, Charles, Edwin, William, Robert, Donald, Jack and Melvin, and his son, Wesley William.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife and best friend of 42 years, Linda; a sister, Doretta Herr and her husband, Ron, of Danville, Pa; his children, Lori Garancosky, Scott and Christopher Griffiths; stepchildren, Sharon Robb, Neil and Brian Strausser; grandchildren, Jennifer Gutekunst, Kristie and Danielle Garancosky, Nick Griffiths and his wife, Julissa, Amanda Palmer and her husband, Jeff, Tyler and Wesley Griffiths and Wesley's wife, Victoria, Joshua and Tre Griffiths, Shane Robb, Trevor, Brandon, Amanda and Addison Strausser, and eight great-grandchildren.
He will also be sorely missed by the many who loved, prayed and cared for him.
Wes loved to root for his children and grandchildren when they played sports and could easily be heard from the grandstands. "Mr. Wes" was a strong and vocal supporter of the Andrews community and a great encourager for youth and adults to always do their best, but never forget to follow Christ fully.
He was a member of Christ Community Church, Andrews.

Wes was a friend of mine. He certainly loved to support the sports in Andrews. He came and cheered my three boys (Bradley, Brandon, and Barrett) at their games. My boys loved Wes as did Patti and me. Thank you God for Wes. He was a blessing!!! Linda, we are praying for you.
