Betty L. Rohr

Age: 70 • Verona

Betty Jo "B.J." (Landes) Rohr, 70, wife of Douglas Wayne "Doug" Rohr of 176 Cedar View Lane passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at her residence.

Mrs. Rohr was born on July 15, 1946 in Staunton, a daughter of Margaret Bernice (Wine) Landes and the late Ernest Russell Landes, Sr. 

B.J. was a member of the New Covenant Community Church in Weyers Cave, was retired from Bethesda Physical Therapy and prior to retirement from Bethesda, B.J. was employed at Augusta Health as a Registered Nurse.  She was a life member of the Staunton/Augusta Rescue Squad, she enjoyed watching and playing tennis, piloting their boat for her husband to ski and she so richly enjoyed traveling on mission trips to other countries, such as Nepal, Kenya and Mexico.

Surviving in addition to her husband of twenty-two years, and her mother of Staunton, is a son, Zane Matthew Houff and his wife Kate of Mt. Sidney; two daughters, Deona Landes Houff of Staunton and Kimberly Houff Cash and her husband Mike of Mt. Sidney; two brothers, Ernest R. "Ernie" Landes, II and wife Debbie of Verona and Dennis L. Landes and wife Judy of Ft. Defiance; a sister, Carol Myers and husband Glennie of Weyers Cave; seven grandchildren, Scott Cash and wife Katie, Adam Cash and wife Meagan, Daniel Cash and fiancée Rhiannon, JoJo Houff, Chance Houff, Tucker Houff and Quin Houff; two great grandchildren, Norah Cash and Charlotte Cash; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert W. and Ferne Rohr; brother-in-law, Stephen Rohr and wife Debbie all of Staunton; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2016 at the residence.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at New Covenant Community Church by Pastor Jim Logan.

Honorary pallbearers will be B.J.'s Tennis Ladies and Friends and co-workers of the ER and Nursing Department of Augusta Health.

Burial will be private at Pleasant View Cemetery.

It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Well of Hope, C/O Kenya Mission, 5225 West Myers Road, Covington, Ohio 45318 or the Augusta Regional Clinic, Post Office Box 153, Fishersville, Virginia 22939.

I shared one of the most memorable meals of my life with BJ and Doug in Italy. I learned quickly of her beauty, grace and loving heart. I will miss her and am thankful for the time we had together and the wonderful memories. Our condolences to Doug, her children and all the members of her wonderful family. Very saddened to see this. I grew up with Betty Jo, Ernie and Dennis and enjoyed going to pony shows with them for many years. Betty Jo was my first girlfriend back in those days even though I was probably too young to know what a girlfriend was.
She was, however, very special.
