Edward Zdinak Obituary

Dr. Edward George Zdinak

Staunton - Dr. Edward George Zdinak, 88, passed away quietly in his Staunton home on December 20, 2018. Survived by his wife, Judy, of over 50 years, two sons Aaron (and wife Jessica) and Shawn, and three grand children (Nicolas, Brianna, and Magdelene), he embraced his life-long passions of learning, gardening, and singing.

Born in Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh), Ed was a mathematics professor at the Virginia Military Institute from 1964 until his retirement in 1999. Having attained the rank of Colonel, Ed's commitment to teaching was evident in the vigor he brought to the classroom daily. He openly shared his love of teaching with all, with a mind towards detail and understanding. His influences are widely recognized, not only by the thousands of students but through his commitment to family and community engagement. Always one to share this thoughts, Ed was also patient, allowing others to freely think while providing his unwavering support. An exceptional example of a husband, father, grandfather, and teacher, his positive thoughts will eternally live.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 in the Staunton Church of the Brethren (1615 North Coalter Street, Staunton, VA).
