Staunton - Gottfried Pikel, 76, of Staunton, passed away on Friday, May 28th, 2021 in Fishersville, Virginia.
He is remembered with love by his immediate family, Andreas Pikel and wife, Anita Niedermann-Pikel, Oliver Thomas, Christian Pikel and wife, Laticia Headings, Johannes Pikel and wife, Sabrina Crotenko-Pikel and Brigitte Powell; by all his many friends and his lovable cat, Mia.

I'm so sorry to hear of Gottfried's passing. I worked with him at Enterprise. Gottfried was very enjoyable to work with and talk to. He shared many stories about his family and his love for cars.

So shocked to hear of his passing. WE met online in a chat room and remained friends for many many years, following his life and his family, we used to have many interesting talks and never missed each others birthday. Gottfried was a loyal and supportive friend. Always full of mischief, and a big personality! Thanks for all the good times at the FCM, and being someone to share all the bad times with too. I will never forget our museum shenanigans, and I'll also never forget your constant positive support for my son in recent months. You are missed, my friend.

Gottfried was like a second father to me when we worked at the Frontier Culture Museum together. We enjoyed many an afternoon cooking authentic German food, playing games, and talking. I am so grateful for the time I got to spend with him, the lessons he taught me, and the warm memories I have. Gottfried, you will be deeply missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. I was so sorry to learn of his passing. Gottfried and I worked at the Frontier Museum together and I was living at Brookdale when he came there to work. He was a good friend and will be missed by many.

Gottfried was a sweet delightful friend. We met years ago at Mill Street Grill then later became neighbors. You loved life and your boys. I’ll miss seeing your smiling face and our talks. It’s hard to believe your not here any longer. I know one day we will see one another again, in Heaven. Everyone there gets to enjoy your company now. Prayers of comfort for your family and friends.

Gottfried and I worked together at the museum. What a joy he was to work with. He smiled and was not afraid to share himself. He was always interested in learning about the museum's story and the greater world. I'll miss him.

Gottfried was such a great source for stories! And he loved playing his Scheitholz.
I’’ll always be grateful for the many 18th century recipes he translated for me...I think of him each time I use one when cooking on the German Farm.
