Allan Anderson Obituary

Allan S. Anderson, Jr. (Andy) was born Sept. 13, 1965, in Sheridan, Wyoming, and passed away Nov. 2, 2021, from kidney failure.
Andy attended U Park and North Pole schools, graduating from North Pole High School in May 1984. In fall 1984 Andy attended the diesel/heavy duty mechanic program at UAF/TVC and worked as a diesel mechanic until fall 1990 when he returned to UAF and earned a BA in history in May 1994. In fall 1994 Andy enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Michigan. Breaking for a kidney transplant in summer of 1996 he continued his graduate studies at the University of Alaska. Andy worked at the University of Alaska Data Center as a computer operator until his retirement in 2016.
Andy is survived by his mother, Nicki Stewart; sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Tom (Blue) Hinchsliff; and his niece, Sheila Nicole (Niki) and husband, Jessie Gillespie and their son, Eli Wade. Andy is also survived by brothers Victor, Paul and Peter Anderson of Anchorage, Nathan Anderson and his wife Sarah and niece and nephew Audrey and Reeve of Soldotna, and stepmother Mary Sue Anderson of Anchorage.
Andy was preceded in death by his father, Allan S. Anderson of Anchorage.
Andy was fortunate to have Dr. DeRamus for eye care throughout his life and Dr. Swenson at Tanana Valley Clinic. During his final weeks Hospice provided outstanding care. A very special thanks to friends Matt Ellingson and Sam Beaudreault for their support to Andy and family during this difficult time.
No services are planned. His family will host a "farewell to Andy' fire pit next summer.

I met Andy in a history class at UAF. He was such a friendly and wonderful person to talk with - it was always a pleasure to see him and catch up on what he was working on. Even thinking about him now makes me smile - I will miss him.
