Charles Peterson

1959 - 2015

Charles Theodore Peterson was born Aug. 11, 1959, in Fairbanks Memorial Hospital to Ivar and Ruth Peterson. He grew up in Fort Yukon and lived a traditional subsistence lifestyle.
He was an avid hunter, trapper and loved to fish with his brother, Gordon. Charlie was an amazing cook. He loved to watch the cooking channel. He was known for his fry bread, moose head soup and chili, and always volunteered to cook for events around town.
Over the years, Charlie worked for Doyon as a roughneck and as a firefighter. He was strong, fit and active. Charlie was always walking around town with that special swagger that was so distinctive. He loved his family, his kids and his grandkids and was always giving his family and friends nicknames. Charlie had a great sense of humor.
Charlie passed away Sept. 7, 2015, and was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ivar and Ruth; his brothers, Gordon and Ralph; sister Myrtle and baby Charles.
He is survived by his brothers, Len and Glen; sisters Lorraine, Linda and Ruthie Gail, and his companion of 18 years, Bonnie Peter. He left behind their children, Allison and Lindsay, as well as his daughter, Amanda (Aaron Larson); granddaughters Autumn and Ashlyn, daughter Candice (Aaron Phillips), grandsons Waylin and Theodore; son Nolan, granddaughter Linda Lucy, and numerous other family and friends.
Charlie was a special man and will be missed, but he is safe in the arms of Jesus. Arrangements are entrusted to Fairbanks Funeral Home.
