Darla Thompson Obituary

Darla Jean Thompson, 51, passed away unexpectedly at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital on June 3, 2010.
She was born May 3, 1959, to Darrell and Mary Sue Fenner of Coos Bay, Ore. She moved to Fairbanks with her family in February 1969. She had three children, Kenneth Thompson, Sarah and Kyle Burcham.
From a young age, Darla had a passion for the Alaska outdoors, including camping, hunting and most of all fishing. Darla also enjoyed activities such as beading, gardening, telling jokes, playing Scrabble, and making her family and friends smile.
She was survived by her stepdad Don R. McAdoo; sister Pegge Thompson and husband AJ Mullins; children, Kenneth Thompson, Sarah and husband Russell Paxton, Kyle and wife Bobbie Burcham; grandchildren, Dawn, Wilow and Lilly Burcham, and Savannah Paxton; niece and nephew, Daryn and Danae Thompson; Darla's significant other, Chaley Mortenson; aunt Loretta and husband Paul Sheill; aunt Donna Racy; uncle Richard and wife Sharon Walker.
Darla is greatly loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Darrell "Lefty" Fenner.
A memorial service will be held at Fairbanks Funeral Home on Monday, June 14 at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, everyone is welcome to attend a benefit in Darla's name to be held at the Circle M bar on the Old Richardson Highway on Saturday, June 12, at 3 p.m.

I knew and loved Darla when I lived in Alaska. She will always be in my memory as someone that was always laughing at life, no matter how tough it got. To be around her was like getting a shot of happiness because of her jovial personality.
