David Hughes Obituary
Dave was a dedicated Journeyman pipefitter, foreman and general foreman for Local 375 in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was also a plumbing inspector for the City of Fairbanks, Alaska. Dave was a very educated individual who was always continuing his education and was exemplary in his line of work, going above and beyond carrying out his responsibilities.
Dave was a Christian and enjoyed worship music. He loved life, loved Alaska and loved retirement. He was a beautiful person, very kind and honorable. Dave was a very respectful person who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by two sisters, Connie (Gordon) Gallamore and Deanne Hornbuckle, and a brother, Chris Hughes. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Brandi Swanson-Cross and Larry Swanson Jr., and several nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Cy and Roberta Hughes, and sisters, Cindy Becker, Cathy Steiner and Denise Solien.
Dave loved his dog, Oliver, and enjoyed music, listening to podcasts, boating, sports, exercising, gardening, fishing, skiing and golf. He loved the sunshine, and his smile would light up any room.
A celebration of Dave's life will be held on Aug. 5, 2023, from 1-5 p.m. at Miguel's, 1235 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99701. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Fairbanks, 645 Eighth Ave., Fairbanks, AK 99701.
