Donny, yesterday would have been your 45th birthday. The memorial service and highway dedication in your name was outstanding. The Boardman Administration Building never saw such an event. Family, friends, and dignitaries were there to say thank you for your service and thank you for being one of our own. Thousands of people will drive by your sign every day that will remind us of your sacrifice. We love you and miss you always.

Hello,
I represent PRAYER SHAWLS 4 FALLEN SOLDIERS (PS4FS), an organization that since October 2007 has sent over 2,800 prayer shawls to military families who have lost a loved one. We are an organization of over 240 groups from all over the country. We make every effort to reach families even when post cards are returned after they have moved. Would you kindly send me a contact email/address so that we may send a loving hand-made prayer shawl to the family? Thank you!

To the family of CWO Clark,

I am saddened that my first entry did not reach you through this guest book. However I feel that it's never too late to tell you how honored I am that my husband spent his last moments with your Donald. I hope this finds you well, and I hope that you are able to smile when you think of how proud we all are of your hero. I have found that if I remember my husbands smile, his pride, and his integrity, I can still stand tall and stand proud. Thank you for sharing your husbands life with my family. I can only imagine the stories Donald is sharing with my husband right now.

Jamie,
We only met once at Don's home in Boardman right after Bailey was born. I first met Don when I moved into the neighborhood at the age of 9 years old. He was like a brother to me growing up and his family is like my second family. I can honestly say that part of who I am today is because of the things Don and I experienced together. There were times when he pushed/encouraged me into doing certain things that looking back am glad he did. Let me know if you ever want to hear some of the stories (or possibly the unembellished versions). Though the road of life caused us to grow apart due to our careers and family, the memories and love I have for him are still very strong.

Looking over the wonderful comments from people all over the world it is comforting to know that Don's character stayed true over the years. Too many times people give in or sell out who they really are and from what I can tell Don never did. When I met you and your family back in 2000, I knew the military helped him to grow up. However the biggest thing I noticed was the strong pride and genuine love for you and the kids. I still remember that grin when he showed me Bailey for the first time. Your family and the Clarks have been in and will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

Don, I am so proud of you and in all that you accomplished in such a short time here in this world. Even now you are still challenging me to do better as I have been looking at things in a whole different light over the past several weeks. If the Lord allows, I look forward to seeing you again someday. Later Buddy and thanks for everything!!!

I knew Don only while we were in WOCS and flight school, but what you saw is what you got. He was a guinuine person and his personality and caring never faultered. We have lost so many people that we know and love since 2001 and they are all wounds I cannot heal. We morn your family's loss. Let the strength of your character carry them from now until you meet again. God's speed Don.

Your Gone
I Lost you that night,
I knew some thing was wrong, but I didnt know what,
The next day I figured it out, you died,
You passed into the heavens,
Your gone,
God took you away from me,
The Angels took you away,
Your butterflies you love took you away,
Why?
Why did He take you?
Was I being bad?
Was He just punishing me?
What was he punishing me for?
No, God and Jesus was not punishing me,
You had to go,
It was your time,
You were tired,
You just gave up?
I guess so,
But its ok, because I can always think of you and know you're in my heart,
Your beside me everyday,
You help me through my tough times,
Through high tide and low tide,
Your there,
And always will be,
I love You Dad,
Rest In Peace.

I know your in a much better place, even if that place isn't here with your family. I know your with me with every step I take, and there to support every decisions that I make. Save a place for me by yourside, I will see you soon. I promise I will come home this time. I love you dad, rest easy and I'll be there as soon as its my time. Your Son, Jonathan.

I am Don's only sibling, and I tell you I knew how to pick em. Don was always a protector. Growing up if he knew someone was teasing me he knew how to make me feel better. Don was 17 when he decided to go into the Navy, and I understood, he felt the need and went with it. When Don left for Iraq I told him that he was always my hero and now he was a hero for us all, and I still mean that. Don was a wonderful brother, son, father, husband, grandpa, friend, soldier, and an all around great guy. Thank you to all that have reached out to me and told us your personal stories about Don, his life has ended but I feel his story has just begun. I love you big brother, and one day we will meet again and I want that hug only a brother can give.

See you soon dad, hope your happy up there, I bet your either teaching someone something or trying to figure out how to use your own set of angel wings. I love you and I'll always miss you!

NOT GONE

you are not gone, not really.
feeling you,
knowing you,
sensing you-
it is more real now
than any long ago touch.
we have marked your resting place;
a stone stands where you sleep
and we come to it on occasion
to remember what made you, you.
we miss your smile, undeniably
but in the missing is a joy,
an unexplainable, resolute sunshine
that lingers carefully like some untold secret.
we touch your name engraved there
like a father touching his child
for the very first time
and there is this, this internal knowing.
one that surpasses memories,
one that overwhelms remembrance,
one that
confirms the exacting power of the present
and tells us that
you are not gone, not really
and we are,
after all that has passed,
still one.

Don was the finest son-in-law I could ever hope to enjoy. Holly and I miss him... Dad

Don my friend as we worked since the squardons arrival in Alaska to bring the hawks and scouts into harmony, the fun and frustrations we had at NTC (remember when I just wanted to throttle Kraig) and here in Iraq (range day). From the best and worst of time within the squadron, you will be missed. Please watch over us and guide us from your new found position, I will see you in the green with the rest of our friends when my time comes, have a cold one waiting, we will have a lot of catch up to do with the rest of the gang.

I alwyas thought we would be old men when one of us would be writing in a memorial guest book. I looked forward to spending more time with you, especially in Alaska. We have experienced a lot of life together and want you to know that I loved you and the time we spent together, I can not imagine a childhood with out you.
I am so grateful we could visit when you came to Alaska. Sitting around and telling tales of our past was priceless.
When you died I got an image in my mind of a picture my mom has of me holding you as a baby. For some reason at that moment I realized you were the first baby I held. How such an innocent picture can result from a tragic end is beyond my comprehension. I want to hold on to the innocence and childhood times we had together. I will always remember you and love you.
Your family is proud of you. We will miss you, but we are grateful for the sacrifice you have made.
Aunt Linda and Uncle Donny, Deana, Jamie, Bailey, Johnathon... and the rest of the family. You remain in my thoughts and prayers. I love you.

I trust god, but he's got a lot of explaining to do when I see him. It doesn't make sense, why can't he get rid of the bad people, not the good?! You were such a great friend and person, I keep waitin for someone to say "just kidding", but I don't think it will happen. We all know the Army does not have a sense of humor (wink wink). Thank you for being apart of my life for the short time you were, it made such a big impact. I will not ever forget you or forget what sacrafices you made for me and my freedom. xoxo

As I read the multitude of entries I began to realize how many lives Don had really touched. There have been entries from one side of this great nation to the other. People have written from 27 states. If that were not enough also from 3 other countries. Wow what an impact. I have always heard that the brightest stars are the ones that burn out the fastest, well if you knew Don you know without a shadow of a doubt he was as bright as the come. I know that I, like many, will continue to carry his light in my heart for the rest of my life. We could all learn a lot from Don. My greatest hope is that we follow his example of dedication and love to family, friends and country. He makes me proud to be able to call my self an American.

A Prayer For Our Soldiers ~~

DEAR FATHER UP IN HEAVEN
WE COME HUMBLY TO YOU TODAY,
THINKING OF OUR SOLDIERS
WHO ARE VERY FAR AWAY........

WE ASK FOR YOUR PROTECTION LORD
PLEASE KEEP THEM SAFE AND WARM,
AND WHEN EVIL LURKS AROUND THEM
KEEP THEM FROM ALL HARM........

BLESS EACH FAMILY AND THEIR CHILDREN
WHO GO THROUGH DRED EACH DAY
WONDERING IF THEY WILL COME HOME
OR ARE THEY GONE TO STAY.......

GOD PLEASE PROTECT OUR SOLDIERS
WHO FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRYS NAME,
PLEASE DEAR LORD KEEP THEM SAFE
AND BRING THEM HOME AGAIN........

OUR COUNTRY STANDS FOR FREEDOM
WE FIGHT TO KEEP THE CAUSE,
WE MUST ALL STAND TOGETHER
NO MATTER WHAT THE COST......

SO DEAR FATHER UP IN HEAVEN
WONT YOU HEAR OUR PLEA,
BRING PEACE TO EVERY NATION LORD
SO OUR COUNTRY WILL BE FREE........

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

When we loose one of our soldiers, we are loosing a friend. We are a community directly involved with those who serve. Clark and Humphrey's, will be sorely missed. May the winds carry your laughter, patience and brilliance.

Dear Family of Donald

As a mother of a Kiowa pilot who serves on the same taskforce than your loved one, my heart goes out to you at the time of your loss. Thank you for supporting him in his quest to serve us and give his life for us and our freedom. He is a hero and will never be forgotten.
May the peace and comfort that only God can give to us eventually fill your hearts.

Jamie and Clark family,
The Wiregrass Patriot Guard Riders will be honored to stand today for one of our own. CW3 Donald Clark is a true American Hero and will live forever in our hearts. We can never repay him for the sacrifices he made for our country but we can stand proud and tall today as we honor him with the colors he fought for.

I didn't know Donald personally but I wish his family and close friends wisdom and understanding during this tough time. Sacrifice is never forgotten not by us and not by the Good Lord above.

To the Clark family,

I know there are no words to say, except how sorry I am for your loss. May you hold Donalds' memory in your heart and please remember he shall never be forgotten.

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

It was an absolute joy knowing Don. Having not seen him for a few years does not take away from the very fond memories we have of him, his wife and kids. Don was a dear, sweet man, and we both enjoyed having him touch our lives. What a sacrifice he made, for all of us. Jamie, just know that you and the kids are in our thoughts and prayers.

Precious Jamie & family:
It's hard to hear talk about peace and angels and heaven when you've got big holes where your hearts used to be. So I won't do happy talk. I'll only say I ache for your sadness and I wish you didn't have to say goodbye!! Much love!!

My heart breaks for all of you. Don was one of a kind, he will truly be missed! All of our memories of him, both from Fort Polk and from Fort Rucker, seem to start with the smile that was always on his face. He had that knack for making you feel at ease and welcome in new situations.

We (Sherri, Justin and Micheal, too) are all thinking of you and keeping you in our hearts and prayers.
