Eartha Dodie "Scotti" Daigle

1952 - 2025

Eartha "Scotti" Dodie Daigle passed peacefully in her sleep in Fairbanks on Oct. 12, 2025. Eartha was born in Old Minto on Aug. 21, 1952, to Peter and Elsie John. She was raised living a traditional Athabascan lifestyle. She attended school in Old Minto, Chilocco Indian school in Oklahoma and graduated from Lathrop High School in Fairbanks. Through the years both Minto and Fairbanks were her home.
Eartha learned to bead, sew and crochet from her mother. She was very creative and always had projects going. Many people were gifted her beautiful work. Years ago, you could find her at Beads N Things sewing and visiting with her friends Ann Gossel and Denise Hardesty.
Eartha was auntie or grandma to many, opening her heart and her home. Whether they needed someone to talk to, a meal or a safe place to stay, she was there. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, always having a pot of coffee on.
Eartha is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Elsie John; husband, Russell Daigle; sons, Lil' Russell Daigle and Fredrick John; brother, Orrin John; sister, Cora Smith; nephews, Patrick and Dudley Smith; nieces, Cheryl John, Patty John and Dorcas Ahkiviana Perkins; cousins, Solomon Titus and Johnny Alfred.
Survivors include her children, Tony John, Barb McNew, Micah (Jeannine) John, Lena (Doyle) Daigle; grandchildren, Zachary, Morgan and Jazmine John, Sean and Isiah Nickoli, Anthony and Stanley John; great-granddaughter, Lilith John; sisters, Garnett Ahkiviana and Carolyn Winters; nephews, Orrin, Peter, Paul, Herbert, Aaron, Corbin, Dakota, Titus, Jacob, Clinton, Simik, Keifer, Patrick Jr, Daniel, Erik and Dustin; nieces, Carla, Agnes, Julie, Rachel, Cassandra, Megan, Gabrielle, Evangeline, Mary Elsie, Miranda, Jenna, Sienna and Nikora.
Because of Eartha's kindness and love of everyone, it's impossible to name all her friends, but know they are in the thoughts and prayers of her family during this difficult time.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, at Chapel of Chimes. Her family will then take her home to Minto immediately following. Minto visitation and funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 18, at Minto Community Hall, with burial following at the Minto cemetery.
