George "Big G" Roberts

1972 - 2012

Our beloved father, son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin and friend George "Big G" Roberts, 40, went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2012.
He was born in Tanana on April 20, 1972, to Thomas Roberts Sr. and Bernadette Roberts. He was laid to rest on April 30, 2012, in Tanana.
Growing up with the traditional Athabascan values, George was an avid hunter, traveler, trapper, fisher and newfound dog musher.
He enjoyed many different fields of work. He worked for the City of Tanana and Too'gha, Inc., as a plumber, carpenter, electrician and laborer. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He shared his subsistence catch with the elders and people in need.
He loved being on the Yukon River; he respected the land and he passed on that knowledge to his children, nephews and friends.
George loved his children unconditionally and provided for them as best he could. He taught them how to hunt and survive off the land, cultural values, respect for all people and animals. He was an inspiration to all and always had time to tell a good story.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Lawrence Roberts; his great-grandfather, Edgar Nollner, Sr.; his uncles, Jackie Roberts, Gabe and Barney Nollner, John, Tommy and Edgar Agnes, Bob Smith, Kevin LeFevour, Arvin Ekada, Courtney and Geneva LeFevour, Bradley Moses and Michael Gau.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas Roberts Sr. and Bernadette Roberts; his sons, Austin Rue-Roberts and Hunter Folger; his brother, Thomas Roberts, Jr. (Gloria), Cheryl Wright(Charlie), Clarissa Roberts (Kevin); paternal grandmother, Josephine Roberts; maternal grandparents, Henry, Sr. and Margaret Agnes; his uncles, Fred Minook (Delores), Gerald Roberts (Effie), Francis Roberts (Kathy), George Agnes, Allen Agnes, Henry Agnes, Jr. (Sherry), Curtis Agnes (Cesa); his aunts, Joyce Roberts, Jeanette Scannell, Julie Hyslop (Tom), Bernadette Roberts (Andy), Judy Kangas (Arvin), Carmen LeFevour, Shirley Moses (Ross), and Rebecca Agnes; his nephews, Travis Johnson, Thomas, III, Caleb, Zach and Charles Roberts, Steven Newman, Robert Wright, Jr., and Trestin Gunter; his nieces, Teneisha Roberts, Geneva and Samantha Wright, Katy Roberts, and Madison Gunter; his best friends, Thomas Moore, Canaan Jordan, Terry Jordan, Courtney Moore, Kyle Folger and his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
