James Hoover Obituary

James Curtis Hoover Jr. passed away in North Pole on July 3, 2021, after a long illness.
Jim was born March 7, 1953, in Ilion, New York, to James and Rose Hoover. He attended elementary school in Anchorage and North Pole, then attended high school at Lathrop and Eielson. "Jimbo" then joined the United States Navy in 1970 and served on the USS Coral Sea during the Vietnam War.
Jim lived most of his life in Alaska and enjoyed hunting and fishing until 2019. He and his family lived through the 1964 earthquake in Anchorage and the 1967 flood in Fairbanks. Jim worked as a truck driver and mechanic throughout Alaska and as a civil servant at the Fort Wainwright Power Plant.
He is survived by two daughters, Catherine and Diane of Florida; brother, John DeCristo, and sister-in-law, Pat, of North Pole; sister, Cindy Jumper of Fairbanks; brother, Mike Hoover, and sister-in-law, Kay, of Claremore, Oklahoma; brother, John Hoover, and sister-in-law, Holly, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by younger brother Allan J. Hoover.

Jim lived next door to me for years and was a good friend. We will miss him and will take care of his garden with love like he used to do. God Bless
