Larry John "Harvey" Stillman

1951 - 2025

Larry John "Harvey" Stillman, 73, died on March 2, 2025, in Fairbanks, Alaska. Born on Oct. 29, 1951, in Bangor, Maine, Larry graduated from Hermon High School in 1971. He participated in Cross Country Track & Field and intramural football. He was a volunteer member of the Hermon Fire Department. Following high school, he attended Eastern Maine Technical College, where he trained in diesel mechanics.

In 1972, Larry enlisted in the United States Army and served until 1977, attaining the rank of SP5. He was stationed in Germany with the 377 Transport Company, HET. He loved sharing stories of driving huge trucks and made lasting friendships with his fellow servicemen. In his free time, he toured Germany and France. He especially liked competing in truck rodeos. His service was recognized with several honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter M16 designation, Expert Hand Grenade qualification, Good Conduct Medal, and a driver's badge with bar. He was honorably discharged on July 23, 1978.

Larry worked as a log truck driver on the Golden Road hauling tree length logs and later at various construction companies hauling gravel, rock, asphalt and cement. He operated backhoes, loaders, and bulldozers, and performed maintenance on trucks and heavy equipment. In 2002, Larry and his wife embarked on a cross-country journey to Alaska. They first settled in Willow before moving to Tok, where Larry operated his own local freight hauling business delivering construction materials to villages. He later worked for a local construction company installing septic systems, landscaping properties, and property maintenance. In 2009, they moved to Fairbanks where Larry worked for Shredway Inc. and then for a construction company delivering sand and gravel.

Larry was a devoted husband for 45 years. He is survived by his wife, Serina, of Fairbanks, Alaska; stepson, Chad Noonan, and his wife, Jamie, of Winterport, Maine; and cousins, Harland Stillman and wife, Sharon, of Newburgh, Maine, Gerald Stillman and wife, Dorothy, of Palermo, Maine, and Sharon Stillman Pedersen of Hermon, Maine.

Larry attended the North Fairbanks Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and cherished the many friends he made there. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal service. He will be buried in the Stillman family plot in Monroe, Maine. The family is planning a gathering later this spring to celebrate his life.
