Lawrence "Sonny" William Dickman Jr., 35, passed away on March 17, 2009, from complications of pneumonia.
Sonny attended Denali Elementary, Ryan Middle, and Lathrop High School. He graduated from Lathrop in 1992. Sonny attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks and went on to Job Corps in Palmer. He completed Job Corps sooner than anyone on record.
He had high dreams and expectations for himself. His dreams took him to California, where he went back to school and made it into dentistry school. His goals were to become a dentist and come back to Alaska.
Sonny was a loving and caring person. He was a nonstop worker and a determined man. He also was very passionate and put his heart and soul into everything he did. He was loved dearly among his peers. He will be missed greatly and always remembered by those he left behind.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Julie Marie Dickman.
He is survived by his daughters, India Lauren Douthit, Julie Marie Douthit and Kailee Michelle Dickman, all of Alaska; his parents, Ruth and Lawrence William Dickman Sr.; sisters, Sharon Dickman of California, Valerie Arrington of Alaska, Kim Rasmusson of Alaska, Laurie Dickman of Alaska and Debbie Halcomb of Alaska; brothers, Richard Dickman of Alaska, Mark Dickman of Alaska, John Dickman of Washington and and Tom Dickman of Oregon; and many other relatives including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service at
11 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
