Marvin Dean Foglesong

1932 - 2024

Marvin Dean Foglesong, 92, of Fairbanks departed for his heavenly home on July 17, 2024, at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service was held for family members at Northern Lights Memorial Park on July 23, 2024, and a celebration of life service at Farewell Avenue Christian Church on July 25, 2024.

Marvin was born May 30, 1932, in Camden, Missouri, to Louise and Cecil Foglesong. He grew up there and graduated from Camden Hight School as valedictorian.

He married Linda Wickell on May 13, 1961, in Columbia, Missouri, celebrating 63 years of marriage in May.

Marvin was a U.S. Army veteran, serving two years in South Korea from 1956 to 1958. He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, receiving bachelor degrees in statistics and electrical engineering. He was an active amateur radio operator for many years and always busy serving the Lord wherever his job took him.

Beginning on Long Island, New York, as a field engineer, other jobs included working on the Gemini space program at McDonnell Aircraft in St. Louis, a contract engineer at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, a test engineer at Fort Greely, Alaska, and concluded his career at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington.

After leaving Seattle, Marvin and Linda became full-time RVers traveling and sightseeing but also workamping and helping Linda's parents in their final years. But in their hearts Alaska was home, so in 2010 they returned to Fairbanks to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren.

Besides Marvin's wife, immediate survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Widmayer and Susan Larrabee, both of Fairbanks; two sons, David Foglesong of Maple Valley, Washington, and Peter Foglesong of Spokane, Washington; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of Fairbanks.

Marvin will be greatly missed but remembered always as a faithful Christian and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
