Marvin H. Jackson, 59, of North Pole, passed away Aug. 28, 2009, at his home.
A native of Mississippi, he was the son of S.H. Harper and Mamie Lee Griffin.
Marvin came to Alaska on Sept. 1, 1978. He was a cook and retired from Clear Air Force Station in June 2006.
He enjoyed his hobbies of fishing, bingo and watching television. He was with Geneva Burnett for 14 years. She stated that, "Marvin was very funny. You never knew what he would say next. He was a very giving person, and I will miss him not being in my life."
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Marvin is survived by his brothers, Jerry Lindsey and Donald Harper; his sister, Janice Wilson; aunts, Cora Conway and Johnie Evans; and uncles, Frank Jackson and Tommie Jackson, all of Jackson, Miss.
A visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. A funeral will begin at 3 p.m. The Rev. Joe W. Blackburn will officiate.
Another service will be held at Jackson Memorial Funeral Service in Jackson, Miss.
Marvin will be laid to rest in Jackson.
