Michael Thomas Scibor

1946 - 2025

Michael Thomas Scibor joined his wife in heaven on Sept. 7, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Michael was born May 6, 1946, in San Francisco.
After moving around in his early childhood, between Washington, Hawaii his family finally made their way to Alaska. Upon graduation in 1962, from Kodiak High school, he became a crab fisherman with his step-father. That profession only lasted until 1964, when the tsunami hit Kodiak. He last saw his boat floating out to sea without him.
Deciding he needed to do more with his life, he made his way to the UAF. Where he was active in the ROTC, helping design the Wood Center, and earning a degrees in business and electric technologies.
It was in the cafeteria where he met the love of his life, Gail Howk. They were married in April 1971. After the wedding the couple moved to Virgina where Michael was commissioned as a 2LT in the US Army with the hope of being a helicopter pilot to serve in the Viet Nam Conflict. The Viet Nam conflict wound down before Michael could be deployed.
After returning to Alaska, the couple started a family. Micheal worked at Bowers Office Products, repairing copy machines before starting his own business; Northern Business Machines. Years later, after selling the business, he worked for Bowman Distribution and later retired with Lawson Products.
When he wasn't working, you would find him at Birch Lake. Where he could read, relax in the hot tub and watch the world go by while welcoming anyone who stopped by.
He is survived by his two daughters, Audra Accola (Brian) and Kristin Sherwood (Wally); and his grandchildren, Sierra and Amber Accola and Wally Sherwood.
Family was everything to him and he cherished every moment with a smile. Per his request, there will not be a memorial service. However, a request was made, for all who knew and loved him, to lift a glass and toast his memory.
