Peter Evans Obituary

Peter Charles Evans, 85 years, of Rampart, Alaska passed away peacefully with his son by his side on Nov. 2, 2024. Peter was born in Rampart on May 28, 1939, to the late Peter and Kitty Evans.
Peter grew up in Rampart and attended Mt. Edgecumbe High School. After high school he joined the Navy and served two tours, sailing the China Sea twice on the USS Shangri La (CVA- 38). He was a lifelong truck driver. He worked as a truck driver for the trans-Alaska pipeline and for many other companies, before joining the Teamsters Local 959 in 1966. During his tenure with the Teamsters, he sponsored many friends and relatives as they joined. He retired from Teamsters at Clear Airforce Base in 1995.
He loved his hometown of Rampart. He looked forward to his summer boating trips. In Rampart, he could be found relaxing and enjoying his time with family and friends back the creek, listening to good old country music and having taste tests of his homemade wines. He enjoyed making homebrew with any leftover fruits. He especially enjoyed watching the 4th of July races and dancing the night away. He loved bringing family and friends together for barbecues, to share a meal and tell stories. His storytelling was rich with humor, love and the never-ending tall tale that made everyone laugh. You could always find him having the time of his life entertaining his friends in his garage on Driveway, or at Big I, Mecca or the American Legion. He lived a subsistence lifestyle fishing, hunting, and trapping. When his children were young, he had rabbit snares set up for them in the outskirts of Hamilton Acres.
He is survived by his son, Rodney and Ellen (Jesse, Chris, Rodney, Elliott, Shay, Travis, Melissa, Rebecca, Renae, Cheyanne); daughters, Daphne and Mike, and Monica (Jazmine & Jade); brothers, Paul and Linda (Judy, Kristina, Paul Jr., Ryan, Justin, Marlow), Ricky and Carol (Annette, Danny & William); sisters, Jenny Joseph (Randy, Spunky, Bobby, Stewart, Janice), Judy and Wayne (Brenda, Chucky, Paula, Debbie & Ricky) and Toni Mallott (Anthony, Joey & Ben); nephew and nieces, Jerry and Debbie Lasiter and Marjorie, Jeannette, Kathy and Diana Merry; great-grandchildren, Sammy, Nathan, Mia, Aubrey, Kirra, Owen, Genevieve, Ezran, Tucker, Jayce, Gabriel, Madison, Bryson, Kaden and Tammy; close family and friends, Art Mayo, Al Woods, David Evans, Ronnie Evans, Charlie Huntington, Chris Workman, Chad Hutchinson, Alfred Miller; and many nieces, nephews and friends throughout Alaska and the Lower 48.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Kitty Evans; grandpa, Charlie Mayo; sisters, Renee Merry and Elsie Lasiter; brother, Leroy Evans; brothers-in-law, Peter Merry and Byron Mallott; grandson, Liam James Karr Newman; nephews, Robert Evans, Gary Joseph, Brian Lasiter, Pias, Samuel Joseph, Donald Evans, Charlie Mayo; partners, Liza Stoffa, Angie Charlie and Christina Heap; close friends, Ralph Holmberg, Dale Riley and Andy Stevens.
Special thanks to cousin Ronald Fabian for taking great care of Peter these past few years.
