Rae leaving this plane adds to my evidence of ascension. The joy & acceptance she expressed each time I saw her caused me to adjust my sight on what is good about life, how much there is to enjoy in life. She was boundless in her appreciation of all people & all ways. Her grounding was of great solace.

Rae and Donna hold a special place in my heart. Their united front, along with their steadfast and positive mentality during the long battle of pancreatic cancer is inspirational. Every time they came for medical appointments they had a ready smile and heart of gratitude. Rae was a much adored patient and I feel blessed to have gotten to know her.

The Dinsmores and the Gnieweks were family friends from when our dads fenced together in college. Rae and I are close in age and spent many hours together until they moved to Alaska the first time. There were always adventures and fun together. I visited her when she was in Chicago and we went for vegetarian soul food! We visited Alaska about 20 years ago and made some of our fondest memories there. My Mom and Dad (Sue and Conrad), my kids (Kori and Kendal) and my husband and I (Ed and Jolie) stayed with Donna and Rae and toured Fairbanks and panned for gold. The best memories were of us cooking together and singing and laughing the whole time.

The world is a much poorer place without her. That she's gone still hasn't hit. I'm dreading the moment it does.
