Robert Inglis Obituary

It is with love and sadness in our hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert "Bob" Inglis, 74. Bob was born in Seward, Alaska, on June 6, 1950, and died at home with his devoted wife, Betty, by his side on Nov. 7, 2024, in Fairbanks.

Bob was born to Robert Inglis and Phyllis Inglis (Ingram) and grew up in Southcentral Alaska, the eldest of his five siblings. From an early age, Bob was known for his adventurous spirit. He spent much of his youth fishing, hunting and stirring up a bit of trouble. His love for the outdoors, paired with his rebellious spirit and zest for life, made him a true Alaskan.

Bob later met the love of his life, Betty Sue David. The two were married and spent 49 wonderful years together, building a life filled with adventures, hard work and a deep love of family. Over the years they made homes in Anchorage, Tok and Fairbanks, where they raised their two sons, Corey and Jon. Bob took great pride in his sons, even when their stubbornness led to clashes. As a father he was devoted, put his family first, and loved to share his passions and hobbies with his boys.

As a gifted mechanic with a passion for restoring classic cars and trucks, Bob could often be found on a Sunday either under the hood of a project or riding his motorcycle. He had a natural talent for fixing things and is remembered for his skillful hand and ability to bring new life to old treasures. He loved antiques, always on the lookout for something new to add to his collection or to gift to one of his many grandchildren.

Bob's grandchildren brought him immense joy, and he took great pride in watching them grow and thrive. He often said they were the "light of his life", and it is clear to all who knew him how deeply he cherished each one of them.

Although Bob faced numerous health challenges in recent years, he met each struggle with remarkable strength, supported every step of the way by his loving family. He was at peace with his passing, and we take comfort knowing the time was right to make his way home. Special recognition is due to his wife, Betty and son, Corey who selflessly put their lives on hold to be with him on this step of his journey.

Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, laughter and mischief. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Betty Inglis; his sons, Corey Inglis and Jon Inglis (Olivia Foote); his grandchildren, Devin Rawson, Donata Angel, Isla Inglis and Lily Inglis; as well as countless extended family members and friends across Fairbanks, Tok, Tetlin, Tanacross, Mentasta and New York state. His memory will live on in the stories shared by those who loved him, and the many lives he touched along the way.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 30, 2024, at First Church of God in Christ, 308 Ladd Ave. All who loved him are welcome.
