Bob was my friend. I was his Travel Agent. He traveled extensively, he and Virginia. I wanted everyone to know Bob.s love of the NFL. He never missed a Pro Bowl in Hawaii. I did not know Bob had passed. We had not spoken in a few years. Don.t let this happen to u. Don.t let someone u love fall away because ur busy or any other reason- then to find out they r gone. Bob held my children, he came to my wedding. I thought of him often over the years but never reached out. And Bob was a man that anyone could reach out to at anytime. He had been missed in my life and when I went looking for him, this is what I found. So reach out - don.t allow the ones u love to b thought of in silence. ~Melanie Jacksich-Hoglin

While Director of the Governor's Office of Telecommunications, Bob supported part of my research efforts into satellite digital links. At one point, both Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan, and the University of Alaska in Fairbanks had remote time share terminals into the University of Hawaii's computer system. Note this was in the 1970's!! Always a visionary in the best sense, Bob was a delight to work with. He will be missed.

Not only a unique visionary, but also one of the kindest souls on while on this planet. Prior to starting on his journey with GCI he decided to accept a challenge to go commercial halibut fishing, probably during one of his martini lunches. The trip consisted of 4 older adults and one young 16 year old (me). While the trip was filled with much jocularity and hard work, I will never forget the kind words and encouragement I got from him. Realizing now he was mentoring me, the lessons I learned from him I have never forgotten. Be at peace Walp family as your parents were truly a shining example of how to live in this world.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your family's loss. During this difficult time may you be comforted by fond memories and loving words; like those found at Isaiah 57:15.
