Sam Leigh Gaye, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday the 6th of November and is in the presence of our Lord and Savior. Sam was a native of California, born in Covina.
Sam is survived by his true love, Michelle, and his three children, Taryn 35, Samuel 21, and Michael 19. Taryn and her husband Michael Gaynor provided Sam with two darling grandchildren, Adelynn Sophia age 3 and Cayleigh Rose age 1 1/2 . He also has 5 nieces and nephews: Noah, Caitlin, Sarah, Rachel and Travis as well as one great-nephew, Jackson.
Sam is well remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and passion for serving his church. He loved to golf and hated to lose at card games! He adored his two dogs, Twiggy and Prima and will be missed by everyone he touched. He had a heart of gold and a passion for serving.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Sam this Saturday, November 15th beginning at 11:00 am at the Conejo Mountain Funeral Home in Camarillo.

I was greatly saddened upon hearing the news of Sam's passing. I knew him to be a genuinely caring individual who always had time to lend an ear to others, and offer a kind hug and one of those infectious smiles of his. He was humble, and willing to listen to what The Lord had to teach him. Above all, he adored his family., and his little dogs. He is no doubt in a better place, but he will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers to the Gaye family.

A Friend

I met Sam several years ago when my life was in utter distress. He hugged me when I considered myself unworthy of being hugged and told me encouraging words when my thought process was telling me the opposite. He was a Godsend at that particular time in my life and I am beyond shocked and saddened about his passing. I am, however, encouraged and happy that he is now beside Jesus, whom he so believed in. The earth lost a good man, but Heaven gained another good one! Rest in Love, Sam, and condolences to his family and friends. I will certainly miss him and I'm sure you all will, also - but please remember that his love, compassion and kindness that he gave us will live on for as long as we do.

We met coaching baseball and soccer in Camarillo and became fast friends. We had so much in common and shared some great laughs. My life is far richer for having met him and sharing precious time with our boys. He will truly be missed by many, but Im sure he is sharing his smile and warmth above.

Sam was larger than life. He greeted everyone with a warm smile and a big hug, which really put a person at ease. We have the assurance that just after Sam's earthly life ended, his spiritual life into eternity began. He was greeted by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with a warm smile and a big hug.

Sam my friend, it is sad to see you go, but I am happy for you that you got to meet our maker before me. as to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I pray for comfort and healing for your family, as I understand clearly their position. You have always been a great guy since I met you at Crossroads in 2001 as one of the Leaders of the church. I will miss you and your hug, and will see you again on the other side. Love you brother.

I met Sam at the grocery store, actually he recognized me from church and said Hello. I was new and had only been to Journey the Church for 2 Sundays and Sam made that connection and said Hello. We said Hello every Sunday after that. He had a warm smile and a friendly outgoing "way" about him. My sincere thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. I know Sam will be missed, but I truly feel in my heart that he is now sharing his smile and warmth with the Lord!
