Her award winning smile could, would, and did end many a bad day for me and countless others. She was a teacher of empathy, sympathy, and love. Tara also knew her own mind and wasn´t afraid to express her opinion. She was the real deal. We were better people to have her in our lives and the world was a better place with her in it. Her sweet soul is missed and loved.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Tara's families. I remember meeting Tara when she was little and had just moved to Fairbanks. I have a vivid memory of the joy she took in exploring her school when someone underestimated how quickly she could move. I was one of those who did and her glee when I caught up to her was a joy to see. Although I never got the chance to work with Tara again, that memory is one of the highlights of my career in education. I hope everyone gets to have a Tara in their life, no matter how briefly.

Tara, so loved by so many and taught us all so much. Tara was blessed to have LaVonna as her adopted mother who always made sure to include her birth family in their lives. LaVonna, your giving of so much of you to so many lucky children whom you chose to be yours; my heart is so heavy for you. This gaping hole in your heart is one that you will never get over. Just know that you have so many people who love you and are here to help you whenever you need it. Don't be afraid to call. I love you my friend.

It was always a joy seeing her around school, her smile always made my day so much better. Hearing Tara come down the hall was always a good reason to take a detour before going back to class.

I also will remember Tara's smile, the love LaVonna and Bob gave her, and the thrill we felt the first day she walked.
