Wade Lewis Kalloch

1957 - 2025

Wade Lewis Kalloch, 68, passed away of cancer on Nov. 26, 2025. He was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Fairbanks on April 19, 1957, to Lee and Mercia (Flot) Kalloch who preceded him in death. Wade spent his childhood in Tanana, Fairbanks and later Los Angeles.
Wade attended Ryan JHS, Lathrop HS before completing his GED. Amongst other learned trades, he worked as crew boss for the Alaska Fire Service, Operating Engineer's Local 302, and Carpenter's Local 1243.
Wade traveled the Interior making lifelong friends, cracking his infamous jokes, and enjoyed a subsistence lifestyle. Storytelling and his sharp wits made him popular and brought laughter to all he encountered. He often spent time teasing and imparting knowledge/stories to his nephews and nieces who will miss his regular calls. Wade gave of himself uninhibitedly, as a young child he worked to give needed support to his family. Even when sick, giving rides, helping with potlaches, and sharing with neighbors were regular activities. Wade played his harmonica at every opportunity and his passion set a fire to the dance floor. Recently Wade was working to finish his autobiography, a story worth telling, we hope to complete.
Wade was preceded in death by his parents; beloved sons, Lee Kalloch and Christin Holmberg; and their mother, Louise Edwin. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Cyrillia; grandchildren, Alma and Treyson; sisters, Amy (Chad Sr.) Nusunginya, Gina (David) Kalloch; and step-son, Alex Merculief (Kendra) and family. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends. Wade was especially close to his "Girl Friday," caretaker and niece, Mitsi Evans.
Services will be held Thursday Dec. 4, at David Salmon Tribal Hall. Visitation at 11 a.m., service at noon, burial at Birch Hill. Potlatch at 5 p.m. at the Tribal Hall. Fellow musicians are invited to bring instruments for an open mic and share in Wade's love of music after potlatch, one more time.
