William Tritt Obituary
William Jr., also known as "Spoon," was born Oct. 14, 1990, in Fairbanks to William "Oluu" Tritt Sr., of Arctic Village, and Cora Simon, of Stevens Village. William Jr. grew up in Stevens Village in the Athabascan culture spending summers at fish camp with his siblings and cousins.
William Jr. met and fell in love with Melissa Huff, and together they had three kids: Chas, Lauren and Josiah. Together, they made a life in Fairbanks filled their home with kids and love. He loved playing with the kids and bringing his nieces and nephews in to join the fun.
He is survived by his parents, William Tritt Sr. and Cora Simon; siblings, Ambrose, Alberta (Paul), Arliss (Edward), Courtney, Cordell, Rose, Renee (Albert), Jacqueline (Eric), Lorena, Angel and Britney; nieces, Kaycee, Alexandra (Gary), Bridgette, Amara, Destiny (Alex), Ottavia, Nova, Leona and Cora; nephews, Tony (Carolyn), Damon, Milo, Kourt, Cory, Conan and Alberto; his many cousins he considered his brothers and sisters; and his aunts and uncles and many relatives from Stevens Village, Arctic Village, Venetie and Fort Yukon.
He is preceded in death by his sister, April Tritt; nephew, Juan Jose Santos IV; cousin, Roberto Burgess; uncle, Glenn Simon Sr.; aunts, Leah Simon and Neila Simon; maternal grandparents, Annie and Neil Simon, and paternal grandparents, Rev. Albert Tritt, Sarah Tritt and Alice Metz (Cadzow).
Spoon will be missed as well as his contagious smile, generous nature and kind spirit.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, at the tribal hall in Fairbanks with viewing at 11 a.m. and the service at noon with the Fairbanks potlatch to follow. Spoon will have his last road trip home on Tuesday to be escorted by his brother-in-law, Paul, and Spoon's close friends and relatives (weather permitting). He will rest overnight in Stevens Village with a viewing and service at noon on Jan. 3, 2023, with a village potlatch soon after.
