Rudolph Marohl Obituary

Rudolph Otto Marohl
October 14, 2024
Rudy Marohl, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and achievement. He was born on May 22, 1938, in Hankinson, North Dakota, to Emil and Lily (Henke) Marohl.
Rudy grew up in Hankinson, where he attended both parochial and public schools. After serving honorably in the U.S. Army, primarily stationed in Seoul, Korea with the 2nd Engineering Group, he returned to civilian life. In 1961, he married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Beth Wipperman, also from Hankinson. The following year, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Dakota.
In 1962, Rudy and Mary Beth moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Rudy began his career as a design engineer at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, located at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory. The family later relocated to Seattle, Washington, in 1969, where Rudy advanced to Vice President of Engineering and Marketing at Nuclear Pacific Inc. In 1976, he joined Central Research Laboratories in Red Wing, Minnesota, serving as the Company's President from 1981 until his retirement in 2001.
Rudy was an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Nuclear Society, the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers, and the American Management Association. Throughout his career, he received several professional achievement awards and held numerous U.S. and international patents. He was also a proud member of The American Legion and the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks. In his spare time, Rudy enjoyed traveling, carpentry, golfing, and cherishing moments with friends and family.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Lily Marohl, and his siblings: Elroy, Vernon, Bernadine (Gulan), and Dale. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Mary Beth; his daughter, Beth (Lynn Hendrickson); granddaughter, Rachel (A.J.); great-granddaughters, Luna and Eve; grandson, Alex (Allie) his son, Michael (Linh); and grandchildren Colton and Allison.
A celebration of Rudy's life will be held on May 23rd at 10 a.m. at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion, Post 88, Hankinson, ND 58041.
Rudy's warmth, intellect, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
