Adam Fowler Obituary

Adam Scott Fowler
Durham
Adam Scott Fowler died Saturday, July 28, just days before his 50th birthday, at the Hock Family Pavilion. He was born in Summit, NJ, on August 6, 1962. Adam graduated from The Lawrenceville School in 1980, and from Duke University in 1984 with degrees in electrical and biomedical engineering. He was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Hillsborough.
Adam began his career in telecommunications with Bell Northern Research, and was Director of Marketing/Americas for Aeroflex Test Solutions at the time of his death. In the intervening years, he worked at Nortel, Tekelec, and Catapult Communications. Adam's years at Catapult were the most fulfilling of his career, not only because of the work he did there but also because of the dear friends he found in his coworkers. Adam loved the outdoors and any activity that could be done in a rugged setting—hiking, mountain biking, and river rafting were particular favorites. He was an involved father, famously chaperoning his children's out-of-town school field trips and scouts camping and hiking adventures.
Adam is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sheryl Thomas Fowler of Durham; his children, William T. and Caroline S. Fowler; his parents, Harriet L. and Wayne W. Fowler of Wilmington, NC; his brothers, Peter L. Fowler and wife, Mikki, of Milton, DE; Joshua S. Fowler and wife, Tricia, of New Providence, NJ; his mother- and father-in-law, Norma and Don Thomas of Durham; his sister-in-law, Kim Freeman and husband, Jim, of Wilmington, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Duke Chapel on Tuesday, August 7, at 3:00 p.m. with a reception to follow at the Doris Duke Center at Duke Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Adam's memory may be made to Triangle Day School, 4911 Neal Rd., Durham, NC 27705.

So sorry to read about Adam's death. Enjoyed working with him at BNR/Nortel. He was so young.

Adam was a wonderful person to work with when we were both at BNR. He will be sorely missed.
May your wonderful memories of fun family times lift you up and may God carry you during your time of grief. My prayers will be with your family.
