Adrian Moore-Pleasant, 30, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 17, 2010, after a diagnosis of brain cancer 16 months ago.
A Chapel Hill native and a fierce Tar Heel, Adrian was a graduate of Durham Academy ('97), Amherst College ('01), and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Law School ('05). He was an Eagle Scout in Troop 820 and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Adrian had been an employment and labor law attorney with Williams Mullen in Raleigh, NC.
Adrian loved the beach and the mountains. Although he traveled the world, he loved Chapel Hill the most. He will be remembered for his beautiful singing voice, intellect, and overflowing love for his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Karen Moore (Steve Tolen) of Chapel Hill, NC and of Michigan; his father, Jack Pleasant (Sandy) of Roxboro, NC; his sister, Emily Moore-Pleasant Upson (Stephen) of Greensboro; his niece, Ava Upson; and by his fiancée, Young May Cha of New York, NY.
A memorial service will honor Adrian's life on Sunday, May 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at Binkley Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, NC with a family reception to follow in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Adrian's name either to Troop 820-BSA c/o Sonia Hodson, 112 Parkridge Lane, Chapel
Hill, NC 27517, or to the "Angels Among Us" Fund for brain tumor research c/o Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, Duke University Medical Center Box #3624, Durham, NC 27710.
