Pinehurst, North Carolina - Albert Kemp Mangum, age 86, passed away on April 12, 2024, in Pinehurst, North Carolina, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born in Brandywine, Maryland.
Albert proudly served his country in the US Navy before starting a successful broadcasting career. He was appointed Executive Vice President and General Manager at Capitol Broadcasting Company and the Durham Bulls.
Albert will be remembered as a devoted husband to his wife, married 63 years, Betty Oxendine Mangum, and a loving father to his children, Dawn Tingwell and Troy and Kathy Mangum. He was grandfather to Rayn and Trent Beagan, Avi Mangum, Olin Mangum, Abrie Mangum, Dakota Tingwell, and Cooper Trumbull. He is also survived by four sibling - Rev. Robert Mangum, Anne Rowland, Sue Osborn and Deborah Copelli.
Albert's Christian faith was central to his identity, and he was an active member of the Village Chapel, where his kindness and compassion touched the lives of many.
Albert's life will be celebrated at the Village Chapel in Pinehurst, North Carolina Wed., April 24, 2024 at 1 PM. An open reception will follow it. The burial service will be a private family-only event.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Village Chapel, 10 Azalea Rd, Pinehurst, NC 28374 - Attn: Missions Outreach or Adult Sunday School.
