Andrew M. Kozel

Andrew Michael Kozel, 54, of Hillsborough died unexpectedly Friday, October 16, 2009 at his home. Born in San Diego, CA, Andy relocated with his family to Chapel Hill in 1967. He was the son of the late Walter and Helen Kozel. Andy graduated from Chapel Hill High School and East Carolina University, and for the past 20 years was employed by North Carolina Memorial Hospital. Andy is survey his wife of 30 years, Carol Perkins Kozel; three sons, Andrew Jr., Scott, and Matthew; one daughter, Samantha; his dog, Haleigh; a brother, Mark Kozel; and sisters, Cheryl Kozel, Joan Van Ord, Patty Ropp, and Stephanie Grubbs of Chapel Hill. The family will receive friends Monday, October 19, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at walker’s Funeral Home in Chapel Hill. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Union Grove United Methodist Church, Chapel Hill, with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. A celebration of Andy’s life will follow at Union Grove United Methodist Church. Flowers are accepted or donation may be made to the American Heart Association.
