Ann Meyer, 84, of Cary, formerly of Hempstead and Franklin Square, NY, died Monday, June 25, 2012 at Manor Village Retirement Community in Morrisville, NC. Ann was born February 25, 1928 in New York, NY to the late Stefan and Zuzannah Gavora. She worked in banking and the business offices of the Hempstead and New Hyde Park school systems. Ann was active in her church, Grace Lutheran, serving on the church board as treasurer and later president of the ladies aid association. Since moving to Cary, she worshipped at Christ The King Lutheran Church. After retiring in 1985, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Ann is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ernest; brothers, Martin and Steven; son, Dr. Robert Meyer and his wife Diane of Cary; daughter, Karen Koproske and her husband, Alan of Simsbury, CT; and grandchildren, Laura and Jeff Meyer, and Kristen and Stefan Koproske. A funeral service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Malverne, NY at 11AM on Saturday, June 30th. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I was fortunate enough to meet Ann before she and Ernie moved to Waltonwood along with my Mother, Nancy Douden. They will both be missed by the Waltonwood family.
