Anne Duffus Obituary

Mrs. Anne Hinton Stott Duffus, 69, diedSunday, August 7, 2005.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. James United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Duffus was the daughter of the late George R. and Lorna McGinnis Hinton and stepdaughter of the late, Dorothy Smith Hinton, formerly of Farmville. She was a native of Wilson County and attendedthe Wilson County schools and East Carolina University. A resident of Greenville since 1962, she began her 37-year career in real estate with the D.G. Nichols Agency in 1968. In 1975, she and her late husband, Jack Duffus, formed Duffus Realty Inc./GMAC Real Estate where she was active until her death.
Mrs. Duffus earned her GRI/CRS designation. She was an active member of the Greenville-Pitt Association of Realtors, where she had served as president, vice-president and director. She was named Realtor of the Year in 1980 by the Greenville-Pitt Association of Realtors, and during her career received numerous other awards.
For 13 years she was a commissioner of the Greenville Housing Authority and had also served as president and vice-president. From 1989-1995, she was a director of the Creative Living Center. Additionally, she had been a member of the Greenville Service League since 1994. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents and stepmother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Col. John David Jack Duffus, in 2002; and stepson, John David Duffus, Jr., in 2005.
She is survived by: daughter, Sandra McGinnis Stott of Wilmington, NC; son, George Liles Stott of Greenville, NC; grandchildren, Haley Kathryn Stott of Wilmington, NC and Taylor Liles Stott of Greenville, NC; stepsons, Kevin P. Duffusand wife, Susan, Christopher W. Duffus and wife, Amy, all of Raleigh;stepdaughters, Charlene Duffus Nielsen and husband, Larry of Greenville, NC; Mary Duffus Monahan of Burke, VA; stepdaughter-in-law, Dianne Duffus of Greenville, NC; step-grandchildren, John David Duffus, III and Megan Elizabeth Duffus, Lori Kellum and husband, Keith and their children, Nate and Sumner, and Leah Nielsen, all of Greenville, NC, Daniel Monahan, Kelly Monahan and Connor Monahan, all of Burke, VA; Rachel Duffus and Sarah Beth Duffus, both of Raleigh, NC; sisters, Robbie Hinton Willis of Morehead, City, NC, Lynda Hinton Smith and husband, Bill of Columbia, MO, Mary Haywood Hinton Winslow and husband, Don of Kenly.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Brody School of Medicine at ECU, 525 Moye Blvd., Greenville, NC 27858; Parkinson's Disease Foundation, Wm. Black Medical Research Bldg., 650 W. 168TH St., New York, NY 10032; or a charity of one's choice.
