Mrs. Annie Jean Wilson McFadden of Raleigh, North Carolina, departed this earthly life on Monday, August 6, 2018, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at 12:00 p.m. at the C.A. Haywood Sr. Memorial Chapel, 2415 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, North Carolina. Prior to the service, visitation will be held at 11 a.m. The interment will be held at Carolina Biblical Gardens in Garner, North Carolina.
She is survived by her loving husband, James McFadden, Jr. of Raleigh, North Carolina; two loving and devoted sons, James McFadden, Jr., II, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Kevin McFadden (Courtney) of Durham, North Carolina; two precious grandsons, Malcolm McFadden of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Brady McFadden of Durham, North Carolina; a sister, Rogerline McKinzie of Wake Forest, North Carolina; a brother, Elijah Wilson of Bronx, New York; two special and devoted lifetime friends, Aretha Keenan and Emily Steadman of Raleigh, North Carolina; a faithful and devoted goddaughter, Letisa Vereen (Michael) of Zebulon, North Carolina; a special friend, Andrea Croom of Apex, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, former students, church and extended family members and friends. We were classmates at St. Aug over 50 years ago and spent many hours together in the science labs. Even though she chose to stay home in the south, and I came north to pursue our careers in education. Seems that St. Aug instilled in us some common approaches to teaching.
I extend my deepest sympathy to the family and community in your loss. May you find comfort in knowing that her spirit is in a place destined for eternal rest away from the cares and toils of this earth. Another soldier has completed her work here on earth.

Mrs. McFadden taugh a buch of kids, that are now thriving adults. I remember one day she slipped on a wet paper towel in class and fell. She fell softly, so we were puzzled and got quiet! She got up, smiled and replied "I fell... I am so embarrassed"! The class paused and then errupted in laughter loud and hard... so hard, we were in the hallways. The teacher next door came by to check to see what the commotion was all about. We made sure that she was okay but, chuckled as we brushed off her blouse and skirt. It was the talk of the school for the rest of the month. Loved her spirit! She would would get up in yo mess if you didn't have your homework but, could take a joke if it fipped around on her. She knew everybody's mom and dad and cousins and uncles and aunts... lol!! I often thought about her and now wish I had a chance to see her again. I will miss her dearly We all will!She made the world a better place!!
