April Bower Obituary
RALEIGH
April Brinley Bower, 45, passed away Friday March 21, 2014 at Duke Raleigh Hospital. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Robert I. Brinley and Mary Elizabeth Risinger Brinley.
April was a loving wife, a wonderful friend to all that knew her. Her passion was saving animals in need. It was spending time with her grandson, Nicholas, that gave her the greatest joy in this world.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Bower is survived by her husband of 24 years, William D. "Bill" Bower; son, Austin Carter Bower of Raleigh; grandson, Nicholas Parker Mowles; sisters, Kimberly J. Farmer of Kentucky, Mary B. Mercer & husband, Kris of Zebulon and Jennifer L. Brinley of Raleigh; brother, Thomas E. Brinley, Sr. & wife, Marian of Sanford; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Ruth & Lee Bower of Raleigh; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Jim & Margie Bower of Louisville, KY and Bobby & Barbara Bower of Raleigh; many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by sister, Roberta "Bobbie" McCarver.
April has battled with Type 1 diabetes most of her life and the family ask that memorial contributions can be made to JDRF Triangle/Eastern NC Chapter, 7721 Six Forks Road, Suite 136 Raleigh NC 27615 or to the National Kidney Foundation, 4701 Hedgemore Dr Ste 810, Charlotte, NC 28209-2280.

In celebration of Aprl's life, I have such fond memories of our times together laughing and carrying on, rescuing animals from area shelters and our great debates. Her passion for life was quite contagious. She has left a legacy of amazing memories for all of us to cherish. I love you, my sister!
