Carlton Beaman Obituary
Carlton Reid Beaman, Sr., went to meet hisLord and Savior on May 13, 2006. He was born in Wilson, NC to Helen Turnage Beaman and the late Robert Lee Beaman , Jr.
He grew up in the Snow Hill community. He graduated from Snow Hill High School and East Carolina University. While he was at East Carolina University he was Vice President of Theta Chi Fraternity and served on the Student Government.
He began his career at Carolina Telephone and Telegraph in 1963. He held varying levels of responsibilities including Director of Local Revenue and Director of Commercial Operations. After retiring from Sprint in 1993, he started Beaman Construction, Inc. concentrating on residential building. The ownership and operation of Beaman Construction was assumed by his son, Stephen.
Carlton was a very active member of First Baptist Church. He served as Chairman of the Diaconate, Sunday School teacher, and a member of the following committees; Nominating, Personnel, Budget and Finance, and Pastor Search.
He was actively involved in the Tarboro Jaycees, Kiwanis and Golden K Club, and Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed hunting and he especially enjoyed his big game trips with his two sons to Colorado.
Carlton is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Linda Cauley Beaman; children, Deborah Beaman Parisher and husband Keith, Carlton Reid Beaman, Jr. and wife Marcy, and Stephen Mark Beaman and wifeGina; mother, Helen T. Beaman; brother, Robert Lee Beaman, III. He was affectionately known as "PaPa" by the six grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Parisher, Jeremy Keith Parisher, Carlton Reid Beaman, III, Christopher Ryan Beaman, Stephen Prescott Beaman, and Taylor Cauley Beaman.
A celebration of Carlton's life will be held at First Baptist Church in Tarboro, North Carolina on Monday, May 15, 2006 at 2:00 p.m.
The family will receive friends in the Friendship Hall at First Baptist Church prior to the services from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church's TV Ministry in Tarboro.
Entombment will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park with Rev. Eric Crowe officiating.
