Cathy Weeks Dennis died on Monday, October 9, 2017, at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina with her children at her side.

Cathy was born on February 4, 1951, in Edenton, N.C. to the late James W. Weeks and Clara Bryan Weeks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Dennis of Castalia, N.C.; son, Thomas Paul Dennis II of Castalia, N.C.; and brother, David Ashley Weeks of Red Oak, N.C.

Cathy graduated from Northern Nash High. After high school, she attended and graduated from Campbell University with a major in Elementary Education. Cathy loved teaching, and she loved children. She taught kindergarten in South Boston and Richmond, VA. After meeting and marrying her husband, they moved to NC where she taught kindergarten in the Nash County School System and Adult Education at Edgecombe Community College.

Cathy loved life and lived it to its fullest. She especially loved music, her plants and her garden, but most of all she loved her children and grandchildren.

Cathy's determined will to live and her courage were an inspiration to those who knew her. She showed a love to her family throughout her life. Cathy fought a courageous fight and finished with dignity and grace.

Cathy is survived by her sons, Robert Preston Dennis, Gaston, N.C. and James Patrick Dennis and his wife Lori, of Goldsboro, N.C.; daughter, Amelia Dennis Pugsley and husband Troy, Red Oak, N.C. granddaughters, Catherine Olivia Pugsley and Tori Logan Dennis; a grandson, Troy Thomas Pugsley; a brother, James Michael Weeks and wife Carol of Zebulon, N.C.; a sister, Olivia Leigh Weeks, Buies Creek, N.C.; two nieces, Kirsten W. Richter, and Courtney Weeks of Raleigh; and a nephew, Michael Weeks of Durham.

A Celebration of Cathy's Life will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Visitation with the family will follow the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
