Cecil Wallace Obituary

Cecil Fleming Wallace, Sr.
Greensboro
Cecil Fleming Wallace, Sr., age 97, of Greensboro and formerly of Wallace left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Friday, November 16, 2012 from High Point Regional Hospital.
Born October 2, 1915 in Halifax County, he was the son of the late Wilson Thomas and Blanche Smith Wallace. He was also predeceased by his brother, Thomas Wallace and his sister, Rachel Conn.
Mr. Wallace was a graduate of Wake Forest University and was an avid "Deacon" fan. Later he joined the US Army and was stationed at Fort Benning, Ga. as he served his country during WWII. In 1946, Cecil and his partner, James Luther "Jimmy" Nichols started N & W Grocery Company which is now Nichols Foodservice, Inc. Their business grew over the years and was liquidated in 1979 when Cecil decided to retire. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Wallace where he served as deacon and was also a member of Wallace Lodge #595, A.F. & A.M., 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Surviving to cherish his memory is the love of his life and devoted wife of 70 years, Margaret Nichols Wallace of Greensboro; son, Cecil F. Wallace, Jr. and wife, Maude of Atlantic Beach, North Carolina; daughter, Marlene W. Cochran and husband, Jack of Greensboro; grandchildren, Ashley Cochran, Chandler Wallace and John Cochran and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of Cecil's life will be at 11:00am on Monday, November 19, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Wallace with the Reverend Phil Rivenbark officiating.
Interment will follow the service with military rites at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery, Wallace, NC.
Casketbearers will be Kevin Wallace, James Luther Nichols III, Jim Wallace, Charles Nichols, Van Nichols and John Cochran.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am, one hour prior to the funeral service at First Baptist Church of Wallace.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be given in memory of their father to First Baptist Church of Wallace, 408 W. Main Street, Wallace, NC 28466 or to Wake Forest University, Box 7227, Winston-Salem, NC 27109.

My Heart goes out to the family of a good man.I had the chance to set with Mr. Wallace and watch college basketball (WFU).In doing this we would talked .I found the best thing was that we became friends .I will think of him each time i watch a game .I know he will still be watching . You will be missed !
