Celeste Mingis Obituary
A 1955 graduate of Needham Broughton High School, Celeste married William K. Mingis Jr. in 1957 and was an executive secretary at State Capitol Life Insurance Co. In 1961, her son "Kenny" arrived. In 1968, her second son, Jeff, was born - and she focused on her greatest joy: being a mom. She later worked for several tech firms including Ikonas Graphics and Sun Microsystems, before retiring in 2001. In retirement, she loved the music of NC native Clay Aiken and attended concerts with a group of friends affectionally called the "Claymates." Over more than eight decades, Celeste brought love, understanding, kindness and an open heart to all she met.
She is survived by her two sons and their spouses, Ken Mingis and Alex Zima, of Raleigh, and Jeff Mingis and Sandra Corona-Mingis, of Wylie, TX; her brother, James Stanley Ferrell, of Garner; cousins, Betty Warren and Jeanette Ferrell, both of NC; sister-in-law Nancy Mingis, of Cary; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 28 at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

I met Celeste through the Claymates and had many fun times with her and the other "girls" over the years. She was always a friend, caring and helpful and she will be greatly missed by those who got to know her.
