Charles (Chuck) Thomas Mainey

Charles (Chuck) Thomas Mainey was born on March 30, 1980 in Newburgh, New York and passed away surrounded by family and friends in Austin, Texas on January 8, 2014, after 14 and a half years battling valiantly against cancer.

Chuck attended Round Rock schools and graduated from Westwood High School in 1998. He was part of the WHS basketball team which reached the state playoffs and Final Four in 1998. Chuck and his father shared a love of basketball and were blessed to attend several Final Four championships over the years. Chuck was passionate about his UT Longhorns and cheered them on at every opportunity. Chuck was employed with Sanmina Corporation as an inventory control analyst.

Chuck is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Doris Mainey and maternal uncle, Richard Parker. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nine years, Lisa Mainey; stepdaughter, Ansley Ferguson; mother, Deborah Mainey; father and stepmother, John and Terri Mainey; maternal grandparents, Charles and Anne Turfler; sister and brother-in-law, Chrissy and Tim Sharpe; sister-in-law Dennae Stooksbury; stepsister Jimmie Yeager; stepbrother Andrew Yeager; aunts and uncles -- Kathy Parker, Joanne Conklin, Guy Albertelli, Richard and Barbara Mainey, William and Linda Mainey, Jerry and MaryAnn Mainey; cousins and dear friends. He will be greatly missed by his sweet golden retriever, Zara.

Family visitation will be on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with services for Chuck held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home located at at 9700 Anderson Mill Road in Austin, Texas.

The family wishes to thank MD Anderson doctors and staff, especially Dr. Franco DeMonte, and Brackenridge ICU nurses and doctors for their loving care of Chuck throughout his fight with chordoma. Chuck's family also wishes to thank the employees at Sanmina for their thoughtfulness and generosity.
