Joan, so sorry for your loss. I will miss talking to Chris who was always positive despite beset by all the complications from his war wounds. I included our Recon platoon picture with Chris standing tall in the last row. We were on a very rare stand down for a day. Chris was new in country as this was January of 1969. (I am the 3rd man up bending over all the way to the right). We got to wash & shave, an unusual opportunity for us. Some of us even combed our hair. The next night we were up in the mountains behind us where a tiger killed one of the men. Chris was wounded two months later, the end of March. I was already wounded when Chris was wounded so I was not with him then. I came back to the field after Chris was in the hospital and did not see him until our reunion in Midway, North Carolina many years later when you lived there. Most everyone in the picture was either killed or wounded by the end of April. I was platoon sergeant then & only two men remained in the field besides myself. It was the height of the war. Chris was a good soldier, never complaining. I will miss him and never forget him.
