Cornelia Jaeger Obituary

Cornelia Ellis Jaeger
November 22, 1945 - January 20, 2023
Cary, North Carolina - Cornelia "Miki" Ellis Jaeger was born November 22, 1945 and passed away peacefully on January 20, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Miki grew up in Englewood, New Jersey, making her way to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for a time. She moved to NYC and held many interesting positions until she set up her successful marketing research company. When she had enough of NYC she moved to Cary, North Carolina and started her mental health career at North Carolina State University, graduating in social work. She went on to receive her Master's degree in Social Work at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, opening her private practice in 1993 and bringing her above average people skills to Charter Northridge, Wake County, and Alliance Behavioral Health.
Miki had a unique way of zeroing in on the heart of any matter. Quick witted, intelligent, and great with lists, she could take command of any situation. She always had a laugh and a smile, making friends wherever she went Miki carried a beautiful balance of strength matched with grace and vulnerability. She was genuine in nature and incredibly generous with her time and resources. She will be greatly missed by many.
Miki is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Sam Secrest of the home, her beloved son Dr. Adam Jaeger of Boston, MA, Sam's children Josh Secrest of Berlin, Germany and Jenny Pedneau of Santa Fe, NM, sister Margaret Riggs Ellis of Ocracoke, NC, niece Margaret Riggs Katherine Plyler of Kauai, Hawaii and lifelong friends Jill Weber of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire and Linda Brown Shaw, Miki's beloved pseudo-grandchildren Lilli, Hannah, and Annie Brown of Raleigh, NC. She also leaves behind many, many friends, and her beloved West Highland White Terrier, Fiona.
In lieu of flowers, hug the ones you love as you may never know when you will lose your chance. We celebrate our cherished memories of her in our hearts. A memorial service will be held in Miki's honor at a later date. We express our sincerest gratitude for the wonderful healthcare team at UNC-Rex in Raleigh and Transitions Hospice Care. Those wishing to do so may donate in Miki's name to https://healing-transitions.org.

It has taken me a long time to write this since Miki passed as I think about her almost everyday. She had such a profound impact on my life. There are really not enough words that could fully describe how incredibly wonderful, smart, witty, intelligent and compassionate she was as a person and human being. If only there were more Miki´s. Selfishly, I want her to be here, but I know she is at peace and I miss her dearly. She will forever be in my heart and I will continue to think of her often. I love you Miki, you helped and taught me invaluable lessons. I am forever grateful. Love always.

I am so sorry for your loss and will miss Miki very much. She guided and supported me through a very difficult few years of my life. I am grateful for the time that she spent with me and know that she is smiling down on us all. She was a beautiful person inside and out and so giving of herself. Lots of love during this difficult time.

I will miss Miki to the core of my being. She was truly my greatest mentor and sister in soul. She made me laugh. Held my hand while I cried. Always let me know I was special and lovable and I know she loved me. She was a great friend for so many and a fantastic counselor. She was real and I will miss her til I find her again
