David Francis Watson, 72, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 2, 2016 in his home. He was born July 17 (Bunker Hill Day), 1944 in Worcester, MA to Frank and Gertrude (O'Leary) Watson.

After high school David served in the US Army doing two tours in Vietnam, and one tour in Japan where he was sent to Cambodia and Korea to study Asian genetic illnesses. Once completing his military service he continued his education at the University of California-Davis, earning his BA in Fine Arts. David loved traveling the world, lived in eleven states and four foreign countries. He loved culinary arts, was an executive chef/manager for eleven years at Vinnie's Steak House and chef for fifteen years for The Angus Barn.

David is survived by his wife, Efrosini "Effie" Martakis; his sister, Jean (Dan) Jacobs; his brother, Paul (Pat) Watson; stepchildren Heather (Josh Burgess) Emrich, Christopher (Christina Runyon) Emrich; his grandchildren Austin, Leda, Logan, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

David touched many lives and all are invited to Massey Funeral Home, 913 N. Arendell Ave., Zebulon, NC 27597 on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 6:30 pm to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course to just chat.
