Donald Hickman Obituary

Donald W. "Donnie" Hickman, Jr.
Wilmington
Donald W. (Donnie) Hickman Jr. of Wilmington, NC died Monday, February 20, 2012 at Duke Medical Center from complications following a short illness.
Donnie was born in Raleigh, NC on January 22, 1969. His family moved to Wilmington in 1974. He was a graduate of Hoggard High School, class of 1988.
He shared his life with and is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 18 years, Tracey Benton Hickman and their beloved daughters Kendall, Lindsey, and Jordan. He is also survived by his parents, Becky Davis and husband Thurston of Wilmington and Don Hickman Sr. and wife June, also of Wilmington.
Donnie will be lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law, Marie Benton; brother-in-law Chris Benton, sisters Kelly Davis Schwartzel and Tina Davis Anderson, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His wife and daughters were the loves of his life and he loved every moment he had with them. They take from him, his love of animals and the love of being on the water fishing or just exploring sand bars. They will remember forever and laugh at the memories of his antics and the jokes he often pulled on them. Donnie had an invincible spirit that allowed him to take on whatever challenges life put in his path.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Temple Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
The family will see friends from 6 PM until 8 PM, Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.
